challenging typological approach. The Revelation of John
begins with a series of letters to seven churches of Asia.
The faults and virtues of these churches are delineated
and specific beneficial results are promised if these
churches fulfill their potential. Throughout the rest of
the book, there is a series of symbols, sometimes in
groups of threes and fours, which may be related
respectively to the seven churches. Edgar Cayce
presented an approach to the Revelation in which the
visions experienced by John were interpreted as the
appropriate visual and auditory imagery associated with
the healing and attunement of various structures and
physiological processes in the body of John; this
attunement resulted from his relinquishing himself fully
to the work of the spirit in meditation.
In
this interpretation of the Revelation, the seven
churches are interpreted as representing seven energy
centers within the body. These centers (chakras) are
the
contact points for the input of spiritual energy, providing
sensitive antennae with which one can become attuned
to planes of consciousness other than that of the physical
senses. It is on these planes that one can participate in all
forms of psychic, religious and mystical experiences. In
pursuing the interpretation of the Revelation, the Edgar
Cayce readings suggested all of the relationships
specified in the following chart:
